The Fires of Looove!

I'm a bleeding heart! I love Valentines day! Or any excuse to spend money frivolously in the name of devotion! And this year, we finally could afford it! well, kinda. We have been saving our change for months for our year of traveling this year. We are going to California three times and Utah and possible Az too to we have a lot of saving to do, but we just bought our tickets for a fraction of the cost we were planning so we had a lot more saved than what we need for the trips. Chad thought this would be a perfect opportunity to live up that dream of a"themed room and the AmericInn down the street we always made fun of. Just to give you a taste for how goofy it is here is the "Chivalrous Knight Theme" suite...Yeee-a, Reealy bad! But we've always wanted to do it so we could say we have done it :)

We had decided that since the weekend after Valentines, was a long weekend, we would postpone any "celebratory festivities" until then to avaoid over doing it money wise. But something about Valentines day, the love was in the air or something! We didnt get eachother anything but the whole day was so...lovey! half way through the day we both simultaniously decided that we would skip the weekend activity and finished the rest of the day with va bang. Finacially, it would have been a little irresponsible and we can always use more vacation money in California so we did the best with what we had and celebrated V-day, Merrell style...aka Chocolate Cake! But first we went to deliver Valentines to all the primary kids in our ward (and by "Primary", i mean nursery. And by "all the kids" I mean, all four of them). I made these fun bubbles because i am pretty sure that if it were not for the magical science of bubbles, those children wouldn't even remember my name each week, ( "kaya wif de bubbuws", darling, i know).
And thanks to my sweet husband who bought me balloons and too much chocolate to walk home to after work, I was able to enjoy the chocolate all week and the balloons for 10 seconds before tying them to the bubbles as a weight.
And here is the cake that made the evening! Chad loved it (German chocolate) I loved it, (pinterest sucess)and we both had half a slice and went it to chocolatecoma! We had such a a nice evening and someday...far from now, we will stay in one of those cheesy/semi-trashy themed rooms, but for know our little apartment can be just as romantic and a lot less cheesy!Love you sweet heart, happy valentines day!
