As a preface, my awesome (favorite) cousin, Austin Hatch can literally do anything, and this weekend, his "anything" was a demolition derby. He bought a car ...for $100 bucks and got his entrance fee waived because he attracted such a big crowd of students and BAM, here we are, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, watching a small town figure 8 demolition derby race!
Not my first choice of weekend activities....or so i thought!
Here's the gang! And yeah, thanks for nothing Chad and Michael, can I please just get ONE picture with everyone looking?!
ugh...
There it is...in all its glory! And the race official telling Austin to, and I quote, "Get your d*** seat belt on, crazy!"It was all so exciting!
Austins first race ended a little....less than triumphant (see below)
But we try to forget about that, I had a video of it but about after the first lap, he got stuck in the mud and there was very little activity after that. I thought it was hilarious, but because I fear for my life, that video will never air.I have a good one that I DID get permission to post but I can't get it to work with blogger so bleh, if you wanna see it, i can e-mail it to you.
There's the face of a champion
YES! I'm so glad you love demolitcious derbies! That's what my kids call them. We love them too. This is the first year in years we've missed the one up north. So sad. That's awesome that Austin does it. HOw fun!
