My New Best Zofriend

10 weeks 3 days

I woke up this morning with a killer headache and more nausea than i had ever experienced. I tried eating a bagel (that's one of my life saver foods that always makes me feel better), I struggled to eat it and as soon as i finished it, it came back up.(TMI, I know) but it scared me so bad, this whole pregnancy I've thrown up a few times and it was normal but this felt different, it was violent and I saw blood. I called the Madison clinic on-call nurse and she told me I was probably just entering a rough patch....which is funny because I thought as you left the 1st trimester, you were supposed to leave the nausea too?!
Side note: I'm a med freak, I kinda hate the stuff. I used to dig Excedrin but about 2 years ago I stopped taking that too. I kind of took on my dads mentality of "It'll run its course" and that with a good nap and lots of water, anything can cure itself.
That being said, when the doctor called and suggested I start taking three different medications before I'm even out of my first trimester, I freaked out a little. The doctor tried calming me down and explained that they are all proven to be safe during pregnancy and that I take them as I need them and never together. If I wasn't throwing up blood, I probably would have laughed a little and taken a nap with a glass of water til my first trimester was over.
But I ...was...desperate.
Chad went and picked up 2 of the 3 medications from the pharmacy (I wasn't feeling too good about one of them) and I did some research and called some friends with experience with the other drugs. I decided to take the Zofran.
Best decision ever.
It took quite a while for it to kick in but when it did, it was like I wasn't even in the first trimester any more! I have energy, I'm not queasy and tired! It's awesome!
Zofran....I love you!
