I submitted my last final ( for my second to last semester) on Thursday the 11th of April...the same day that I flew home to surprise my dad for his 50th birthday. It was a crazy day. We organized the office to prepare our assistants for the crazy weekend ahead of them. We had multiple move outs and move ins that require a lot of time and attention. We finished our last classes, I had two finals to do and chad had three. We had to pack, clean our house (incase someone came by to take a tour of our apartments) and finish the semester. By the time we got on the plan, we didnt care where we were going, as long as it was far away from Rexburg.
When we arrived in AZ, my mom was waiting for us and my dad was in the car, (no doubt, very suspicious of why the heck they decided to "stop by" the airport before dinner) He was surprised no the less. We went straight to Danica and Brennons House so that we could wake up our sweet nephew, Stratton! Yes, we are those people, that put our needs above the childs sleep schedule, it was 9:00 and we got him up and played for about 30 minutes. Let me briefly declare to the world what I know to be true... Startton is the cutest, funniest, happiest little 2 year old alive!!! I loved seeing him wake up, show me his train set, walk like a zombie with everyone (Stratton waved everyone to join him, so him, me and Chad, Brennon and Danica, Mom and Dad and Kathy and Mike, all grown adults walked in a circle with our arms in front of us, laughing at the leader of the pack, Stratton, smiling ear from ear making zombie noises, watching us do the same...i love him).
The next morning, we ran errands, getting ready for two amazing parties! Strattons party was that night so we ran to Target and got him an awesome sprinkler attachment for some water fun in the summer. We stayed busy all day and the party started around 5:30. We played corn hole, ran around the lawn with Startman and visited with long lost family and friends! Breea got picked up from the airport and met up with us at the party around 7.
Most of his presents were bigger than him!

How fitting that there was a masive kiddy slide at a 50 year old mans birthday, thats Bill.
Most of my dads family came! It was so nice to see them, I feel like its a once a year thing for me know since we only get to go home every 4 or 5 months now. So good to see them, and celebrate my grandparents 60 year anniversary. What a power couple! The food was amazing, which can only mean one thing....Tracy was in charge. He and Quinn his your grilling apprentice made some amazing grilled chicken and steak for our Mexican food bar. everything was perfect!
Look at all those friends and family! That's what it's all about!
The back yard was beautiful, the grass was flawless, like always, the trees were all lite up and tables modestly decorated with buckets of caramel corn and colorful runners, it reminded me of my reception, the beautiful atmosphere, warm night, green grass and glittering lights everywhere, it was amazing!
Got to see my sweet, dear friend Liz at the party! I'm so grateful our mothers are such close friends and we get to follow that pattern. Liz is amazing, she had sweet baby Alice a few months ago and she is just darling! Rolly and round all over! And just sweet as sugar just like her mom! It was so fun catching up with her and Robbie, and being able to meet her Step-father for the first time. What a great family!
All of these amazing men gave some stories of friendship and love for my dad. He has always surrounded himself with great men and they sure love him too.
All us girls shared our favorite memories and catch phrases of dad, some of my favorite are listed below.
Yard full of friendly faces!
Photo bomb Breea...nice
I loves spending the weekend with family. There was a moment when the whole family was in the backyard, Brennon had set up the music system and had some Imagine Dragons playing and all of us, every member of my family was dancing and singing, laughing and working hard to get the yard ready for the party. It was simple, we were all just working on our different tasks but we were all so happy. Dancing, teasing, laughing, singing, chasing and working our booties off. It felt like what i think heaven must feel like, surrounded by family, working hard, and full of love! I love my family!
Love this post!! I never saw any of these pics from the party! That was so fun to have you guys there- can't wait to celebrate your little babes' birthday in 6-7 months! :)
