Week 8: Our little Larva!

1st Ultrasound!

    We saw it, it's in there! The baby is underway! And SUPER healthy! My first appointment with the baby doctor was a little misleading and worrisome, we didn't know how far along I was, I wasn't experiencing many symptoms and all we knew was that I was pregnant, but this appointment sealed the deal for me and Chad!
   The baby is healthy and growing like crazy! The doctor was so sweet, she was so excited for use, i guess they were pretty worried about what we might see today because they were just as relieved as we were when they saw the healthy vitals and perfect little heartbeat! It's heart rate is 164 which is right on track, they pointed out the head, the arms and the bummy (which is already really adorable by the way) and the biggest news, the due date... JANUARY 12th 2014 !!!
   Our new years baby is 8 weeks and 2 days along! Its just over an inch long and as you can see from the picture...less than discernible. As soon as the doctor left the room, Chad and I embraced with so much excitement and relief, and almost at the same time said...it kinda looks like a lava huh? (Thus it's new nickname, little larva)
  They said that everything was extremely visible (that needed to be) and that they were very satisfied with the results of the ultrasound. We are SO happy to have a healthy baby, growing great and giving mama heck already. I'm nauseous all the time but it's all worth it, especially on days like today! Yay for baby Merrell! See you in 7 months honey!

Our next appointments in 4 weeks but there will not be another ultra sound til the GENDER reveal one in late July, early August. CAN NOT WAIT!

Week:8 

Total Weight Gain: -2lbs, that's right I'm losing weight, my Doc said its okay in the first trimester and since I'm always sick and I hardly have an appetite.

Stretch Marks: None of course but I pretend they're right around the corner and lather up my belly and breasts after every shower, with stretch mark prevention cream ( that's definitely not what its called but its what it does)

Best Moment This Week:  Taking pictures with Sam to send to my family! I'm so excited to tell them!

Missing: My ability to function on little bits of sleep. the other night I didn't go to sleep til 11:30 and the next day I was SO groggy! I NEED sleep, it's not an option.

Movement: nope, its the size of a Lima bean so if I felt it, I'd be worried
Symptoms:Nausea nausea nausea! All day everyday. 

Food Cravings: Lasagna! I'm like freaking Garfield!

Causing Nausea:  Same as last week, Anything greasy....bleh and oddly enough, hairspray!

Labor Signs: Ha

Belly Button: ...

Wedding ring:  On and loose

Moods: Mainly just tired. I'm oddly sensitive to violence, not that I watch crazy violent things but, any sort of hitting, excessive force, REALLY bugs me!

Next Doctor's Appointment: 4 weeks, :( and it wont even be a fun appointment (pap smear and breast exam...yay)

Looking Forward to: Wrapping up the first trimester...sickness 24/7...yeah its getting a little old :)

Baby Facts: My uterus has grown from the size of a lime to the size of a tennis ball. The baby is about and inch long and its heart has divided into left and right chambers and beats at about twice the rate of my heart beat. Its eyelids, nose tip and upper lip are now discernible.
