New Years 2013 Card-a-thon

Card-a-thon 2013 was a success.

The Thompsons and the Merrells have a long running tradition of playing cards and we thought that there would be no better way to bring in the new year than to play until we hated each other...we didn't go that far but we got close people!

Between Chads smack talking cockiness, Trents manipulative perssuations, Chelseas intense competitivness and my painfully disparaging card skills,,, there was never a dull moment.

we started the evening with 2013s last supper..Jimmy Johns.

Delicious. By 7:30 the games were on. We decided that we would play until the New year came and who ever had the most wins by the end of the night would be crowned the 2013 Card-a-thon Champion, and would be awarded this beautiful homemade Card-a-thon trophy to display proudly in their home until the next card night. They would also receive a blue t-shirt...because everyone knows that the ultimate winner wears a blue t-shirt (don't ask).

We strated with skipbo, then on to phase ten (which was by far the most painfully intense game of the evening) then to Uno, in which we all almost lost our cool. As the night progressed, it became pretty evident that the Thompsons were killing the Merrells. We were not teamed as couples but Chad and I just so happened to be lousy together.

I'll admit, I was changed by the whole experience. I learned that with cards, there is no humanity. EVERYONE lies, there is No loyalties and if you're down, you will be kicked! (I only know that because I spent the good majority of the evening loosing, it was a humbling experience.) I resorted to drinking more than once, we all did.

Luckily I had my humor to ride on becasue by the end of the evening thats ALL I had!

Chelsea and Trent pretty much had us beat by the last two games of the evening but we humored them and played all the way up to midnight.

The grand winner of the evening was.... Chelsea Thompson! She creamed us! It was a well deserved victory...as much as we discredited it out of anger last night, That trophy's going to look nice in her corner hutch....for now.
