double digits..kind of

It's starting to feel like Liams birthday, he's getting so close to being a year old and all this snow we've been getting is reminding me of this time last year when i was super large and shoveling snow every other morning. I remember thinking, I wish he would just come a few weeks early so he'lkl be hear for Christmas. now I'm so glad he didn't be it's getting closer to that one year mark and time is flying so much faster this year.

Liam is a very special boy. His personality constantly surprises Chad and I. He's always making new faces, laughing at new, weird things and learning, learning all day long. He took his first real steps on his 10 month mark and pushes the boudaries each day with how far he can make it before he falls.

Liam loves bath time so much, he races from one end of the tub to the other on his knees and giggles as the water splashes up in his face. He also loves trying new foods. Spagetti and mashed potatos are his favorites (naturally, he's drawn to the carbs like his mother).

Liam does NOT like sitting. or staying...pretty much any commands you would give to a dog, he hates em. He has however gotten pretty good at stopping at the carpet right outside the bathroom because he knows if he crawls on the bathroom tile, I'll most likely scare him away with the cool setting on my blow dryer. I'm proud to announce we have not had a potty water encounter yet...its a matter of days...but not yet.

Liam experienced snow for the first time this last month and he loved it! I have been struggling to keep him out of it until we find a suitable and affordable snow suit for him. Until then, i put him in the warmest clothes we have and let him crawl around in the snow until he's completely soaked, them, promptly run him inside, strip him down and cuddle under a few blankets until he squirms away. It's been so fun to watch him discover seasons as they change.

Liams finally warming up to the idea of cuddling. Sometimes he's just crawl over to me if I'm sitting on the floor and just sit on my leg or put his head on my thigh. I can't explain it but it makes me more happy than anything in the whole world. Even dad is getting more kisses than scratched these days. We are really working on help Liam understand the word "soft" and how its implied with touching peoples faces. He's getting it....slowly. we still have to watch him pretty close around babies but the smacks have turned into pats and his scratched have turned into really aggressive rubbing..it's progress.

He's still sleeping like a champ, 2 naps a day and to bed and awake by 7:30 but he is a seriously light sleeper. We have a box fan in his room that muffles the noise so he never wakes up as long as we don't go in his room but if that door opens and there is a single peep, he's up and screaming! So any suggestions on helping him not be such a light sleeper will be greatly appreciated.

He's really starting to love story time. I used to have to fight him to sit still just to get through a few short books a day but now he's totally into it. And I shouldn't brag but I've become quit the story teller! I'm so dramatic now and have lots of interesting voices that I'm sure no well-mannered adult will ever have the pleasure misfortune of hearing. Liam thinks I'm crazy sometimes, but he sits and he listens, so I'll keep reading like a psycho!

We have a lot of fun together. With this cold weather and with Liam and I both being home-bodies, we've had a lot more one on one time together and its been so nice!

I'm humbled to be a mom and have the responisblity that is associated with the title. Liam makes being a mom so exciting and joyful.I feel like I'm learning something new every day but more importantly, I feel like I WANT to. I have such a desire to provide Liam with the best everything, I'm constantly reading articles, trying new foods with him, reading new books and showing him new things. I'm still blindly hoping and praying that I'm doing this mom thing right but i gotta tell ya, it feels right.

There is a store open every Thursday and Saturday in Rexburg that sells cheaper snow gear for kids. They sell overstock from Costco. It's right next to a laundry mat across from the court house. I hope that helps!!
