On Friday, we packed packed packed! We cleaned, painted and loaded Chads trailer all day while chad ran around like a crazy person trying to turn in his senior thesis on time. I honestly have no idea how we would have pulled it off without our family helping us! Dan helped get the trailer painted, the tires on and ready for the trip and Ray and Taylor helped pack it up and get the place cleaned. Chad and i had divided the responsibilities out the week before but with his assignments taking longer than he planned, i ended up with everything so having the family there and our friends helping to fill in the gaps made it all work out.
All the while, Troy and Lorena were completing month end and getting to know our awesome replacements, Immy and Ryan. It was weird to not be as involved in the month end procedures but such a relief to be able to focus on getting my family ready for the move.
Liam met Uncle Taylor for the first time this weekend and just like all the other kids, he was glued to him! Taylor had his jaw wired shut so he was such a trooper, playing with Liam even though he didn't feel good and Liam accidentally kicked him in the face! Between Taylor and Gail, Liam was completely occupied and happy the whole weekend!
We got to get together with Guy and his family, as well as the Thompsons, Thompsons, and Dorrells. AS we all sat around talking and eating, I realized that they were my family. We had all gotten so close in the past 4 years, I knew the next few days were going to be rough trying to say goodbye.
One of my favorite quotes from the evening was from Elder Gay. He was talking about when he was ordained a member of the 70 and he "interviewed" with president Hales. He asked Elder Gay how he ended up in that room, interviewing with the quorum of the 12. Then Elder Gay suggested "it might seem overwhelming trying to figure out all your new responsibilities and what you need to do to fullfill your callings, but all you need to remember is to keep doing what you did to get here." I just loved that advice! Chads worked so hard for his degree and one of the biggest problems with engineers is that they graduate and feel unprepared for the responsibilities of their profession. Chad just needs to keep doing what he's been doing and he'll figure it all out, he's gone the right direction all this time, no need to reinvent the wheel, just keep rolling!
Loved all the family pics but i am kicking myself over and over for not getting pictures with Trent and Chelsea! Stupid, stupid, STUPID! I guess we'll just have to take double the pictures on our cruise!
I told him not to do that...
high five dad
Liam and Trent wore matching suits...how embarrassing.
Chad had some serious hathead issues but he didn't care too much. Thanks for the awesome cake Chayce and Kapri!
Also, I got him this sweet watch he's been wanting for 4ish years...under the condition that he had to throw out all his tacky Walmart watches.
My house was almost completely packed up but I had to throw a little party for him with some decorations so we used Chads cute little face to decorate our empty walls.
The only person missing was our Chelsea, she had to put Porter down but she was missed. She saved the day by bringing us Pizza between the commencement and convocation so we didn't starve between the long ceremonies. Thanks again Chels!
We got together with some of our closest friends, family and co-workers and talked about some great memories. Chads so lucky to have so much support and love. He is so blessed, but I should also say, he reaps what he sowes. He is so loveable and genuine with everyone.
SO grateful for that man and all that BYU-I has added to him.
So exciting!! On to new adventures!
