We've been in our home for 2 weeks now and we're finally settled in! Furniture is in place, food is in the fridge and clothes are washed and hung. The yards starting to look better too, Chad mowed it and it looks like a completely different house, I've been weeding in the morning and we get to irrigate next week (which is so desperately needed). We still have some boxes laying around and lots of stuff to be stored away, like our oodles and oodles of winter clothes that will be dormant for a long while.
Oh, side note, funny thing about our chicken, it's actually a rooster and he's dead. I know, that escalated quickly but a lot has happened since my last post!
We found out Goober was a rooster at around 4:30am, the morning after we moved in. He woke us up and Chad grabbed a 2x4, ready to end it all right there. Luckily he woke up before he reached Goober and just shooed him away from the window where we were sleeping. Despite his obnoxious alarm-like qualities, we still loved Goober. Every time we got Liam out of his crib in the morning, he would turn his palms up and extend his arms while saying "boc boc?". He'd do this every time we went outside. We even got him some food while we were looking at chicken coops last weekend. Buts sadly, a few mornings ago, right after "Bocbocs" first crow, we heard a scuffle in the dirt and...silence. We haven't seen him since. I think it was cold blooded murder by a neighbor or something, but Chad thinks it was just a coyote or something. I like my story better.
One of my favorite views was watching these boys look out the window at bocboc and the friendly little jackrabbits that find thier way into our back yard.
RIP Bocboc
Other than the mysterious rooster murder/roosternapping, things have been beautiful around here. Getting the house organized has been so fun and relaxing for me. Getting things in order is one of my favorite things to do so I've really enjoyed this 2nd part of the moving process. Plus, I love my home. Its simple, it's nothing fancy but its exactly what we want and every day I feel like I find something new that I love about it!
-The "dirt Road" people, our neighbors are so friendly and down to earth and not one of them is like the other.
-All the wildlife! Lizards, spiders, rabbits, roosters, dogs..you name it! Except scorpions, thanks heavens.
-the smell of the rain on the dirt roads
-The breathtaking view of the mountains
-The silence, and general lack of neighbors behind every wall.
-How cool our house stays with such little AC (again, not expecting that with a manufactured home)
Seriously, something new every day.
These little lovelies were from my husband and my aunt, because doesn't everyones aunts buy them flowers randomly! #bestauntever but i just love them. They're really brightened up my crazy unorganized kitchen and inspired me to be in there more.
Liam has loved it too. He has loved all the animals that come play in the back yard in the mornings and evenings. His little play corner has a window so he can see it all, it's perfect for him and I love catching him in his happy place.
Another HUGE plus, his room is extremely sound proof! Not something I was expecting with a manufactured home but yeah, he sleeps longer and better with all the sound gone. He even slept through the rooster every morning!
We're so happy here. I was so nervous about leaving Idaho and the whole first month i thought we had made a huge mistake, but I'm starting to see all the beauty and excitement of Arizona. We definitely still feel a little out of place. Chads still trying to settle into his job and gain his confidence in his responsibilities and I know as I get a calling I'll find more belonging but we're getting there. We've learned a lot since moving here..
1. Rexburg was one of the best decisions we've ever made as a couple
2. Chad and I can be completely happy where ever we live.Attitude and perspective are everything.
3. There is serious beauty everywhere, you just have to want to see it.
4. Chickens and roosters are two very different things.
