Our Parakeet

I feel like I need to post a pregnancy update...it's been so long. With Liam I posted every single week. e.v.e.r.y.s.i.n.g.l.e.w.e.e.k.
But I haven't found a doctor I like, I've only gone in once and I honestly do not feel pregnant any more, now that the exhaustion and light nausea has all but faded away. I'm 15 weeks and starting to show, feeling great and getting more energy back every day. I can find out the gender here in a couple weeks ( I think) I need to call the next doctors office I'm going to try and see what their policy is. People have suggested going to a 3rd party and getting the gender sooner but I've waited this long to go to the doctor, I wouldn't mind waiting a few more weeks for the gender. Everyone still asks what I think it is so to settle some of the discussion I decided to find all the wives tales I could and take all the tests, tally up the findings and "decide" the gender that way.

Liam and I have been learning a lot. Liam is our little parakeet lately, repeat EVERYTHING we say, sometimes over and over. Which means he's talking all day and learning 15-20 new words a day! He's so quick to pick up on their meanings and the context that the words should be used in.
Our favorite thing the past few weeks has been watching him form sentences all on his own and seeing if we can make sense of them.

A few of our favorites:

William James
Garbage truck
I love you much
Name, Jesus Christ, Amen!
Popis truck
I want to hold it
Help clean up
You sick mama? Rest is best.
Mimi Strattons house please
hey hey hey
Whats up dude
I like this song
So sorry mama, thats a bad choice
Youre my buddy
Oh Honey!
Spaghetti is messy, so fun!

The other day Liam and I were coloring at the table and we were talking about how important it is to only color on paper and not the table or our seat. He did pretty well, for about 5 minutes. I saw him look at me and slowly reach down to color on the bumbo he was sitting in. I stopped him and reminded him that that would be a bad choice since he knew it was wrong. He said, yes mama and started coloring again. I kept coloring my primary visuals and when I looked at him next he had colored all over his bumbo with a pen that was not coming out. I Took him out of the bumbo explained he had made a bad choice, spanked him and sent him to his room while i tried to scrub the seat.
The pen didn't come out but its just a casualty in toddler raising so I didnt worry too much about it and we went on with our day.
2-3 days later we were sitting at the table again, this time eating breakfast and I pointed to the pen on Liams seat and said "Liam whats that?", Without missing a beat he said, "I colored on de seat, isa bad choice and (while tapping the back of his bumbo) mama spank a bum!" I wanted to burst out laughing because of how perfectly he recalled the entire event, and the fact that he remembered the word spanking since he's had maybe 2 or 3 in his whole life. Instead I confirmed his recollection of the event and said "yeah but we can make good choices now huh?" He nodded and kept eating his eggs. I love that boy...hate spanking him but glad that the few times I do, it sinks in and helps him remember important lessons about choices. I laugh every time I tell that story.

Another Story...

We aren't quite sure where he got it from but one day I was sitting next to Chad on the couch, he had just gotten home from work and we were talking about our day and Liam randomly came up to me, gently hugged my head and pet my hair while saying "oh honey!" We died laughing! Where is that from!? I guess sometimes I say it to Chad but I rarely hug his head like Liam hugged mine, regardless its hilarious and we often ask Liam to "Oh Honey" us!

Last Story....

Last week Grandma Gail came into town and spent the day with us before her flight back home. We went to the park, got a hair cut, got ice cream, it was a fun-filled day. The next day we were hanging out with Shayna and I said "Liam, tell Shayna what you did yesterday with grandma." He got real excited and said " I kickeded de grandma!" I questioned him immediately, "Liam we didnt kick grandma? We went to the park and played on the swings and..." he stopped me and said, "on de swings I kickeded de grandma, es so funny!" Then I remembered when grandma swings him on the swings she grabs his feet and pretends he's kicking her which ensues immediate laughter. He made sense it just sounded a little unorthodox. I love the way his brain works and how simple and pure all his thoughts are.
(this is before the hair cut)

Can't wait to share more stories as he vocabulary doubles this next month or so!
