We had sent a little package for Dan to Canada but because it's so stinking expensive to express things through customs that we called him to tell him the news and let him know that a little package was on its way. He was excited to! Chad was on the phone with him but i could hear him say "NO WAY!" I guess he wasn't expecting it, but it was a welcomed surprise.
Later in the day we called Ryan and Kim, and told them the news, Ryans response was...different. The first thing he said was "This is how you're telling me?" Wasn't quite sure what to say to that but I think that translates to "Congratulations, we're happy for you". What do you think?
Next we met up with Breea, she had agreed to do some graduation shots for me while she was up in Sandy visiting Gabeybaby (which is not his real name but i like it better). We had a good time, laughed a lot and took some great pics. I tried to slip in the good news a few times but she wasn't catching on. SO as we where driving home from our shoot i asked her if she would be skyping dad for fathers day, i told her we were going to and that we had sent a package with a BYU-I grandpa shirt and cute little baby booties. She was like, oh that's nice.... wait, Kayla, you're not pregnant!? Your not pregnant? No way! She finally believed it! It was awesome! I made her swear she would not tell anyone til i talked to the family, she said yes, but i made Gabeybaby promise that he would tackle her down if she even started to spill the beans.
It was getting later and later in the evening so now everyone knew about it except my family, who, for the record, I would have told 6 weeks ago if we weren't trying to be all cleaver and cutesy about it. Now that all these people knew, the chances of the word getting to my parents before we did grew greater and greater. I was a massive stress ball. We were trying to play a nice game of Risk with Trent and Chelsea and I involuntarily would shout "they know, i know that they know!" and then Trent, Chelsea and Chad would take turns calming me down and telling me that they would be surprised and that thier reaction would be priceless and that I had nothing to worry about.
Finally it was time to skype! I think our timing was just off, i didn't know my family would be entertaining guests so they were a little sidetracked but it was now or never, my mom handed dad the package and he pulled out the shirt first, he held it up and said " awe this is awesome. Byui Grandpa" ...He didn't get it, he's already a grandpa but not a BYUI grandpa! so then the puzzle and booties came out together and my mom identified the sonogram and said "Kayla is this a joke!? Wait you're not really pregnant right?" Kenna, standing right in the background covered her mouth and started screaming ( best reaction!) and mom and dad put the pieces together. (literally and figuratively) My mom and sister immediately assumed it was a girl with their statement, "so how big is she?" We chatted for a while and my mom tried to convince me to temporarily move to Arizona to have the baby and stay a few months after... sadly, i'm thinking about it, it sounds crazy but if i have a baby in Rexburg in the dead of winter, i'm afraid it will come out in the form of an ice cube!?
We love being out in the open about it! That secret was the crappiest secret ever, its no fun hiding something worth celebrating.

Baby Facts:This week, the baby measures about 1 1/2 inches from top to bottom--about as big as a cocktail shrimp and similar in shape. Tooth buds are forming, bones are growing, and hair is starting to sprout. its eyelids are fused shut and will remain closed until week 27, but it can hear me now since the inner workings of the ear are complete. Neurons appear at one end of the spinal cord, and the basic divisions of the brain are present. it can also bend its arms at the elbows and has distinct fingers.
YAY!! I'm soooo excited!! I just want to know if it's a boy or girl so I can start CRAFTING!! ;)
