The time has come! I finally got to met y sweet niece Amelia, whom I call Millibadilli! She's a chuncky and furry as I imagined! But it was no easy task getting to her blessing. We left on Wednesday and drove to Ray and Gails house in Springville, it was on that trip that we realized that Liams car seat was just done. Its been kind of a lousy car seat from the get go but as he gets bigger, the lack of padding and age of the seat have proven to be a very bad thing for poor Liam. He was in a lot of pain because his lower back has almost no padding and because of the way it sits in the car, thats where most of the pressure is. So we got him out after four long, loud hours and he had a huge red mark all across his back...i felt horrible! I couldn't believe that we would be making a drive 3 times as long the next day in that horrible car seat.
Gail suggested we ask Lori and Scott, our brother and sister in law if we could use buddy passes from Salt Lake to Phoenix. and by suggested, I mean, she did it! We insisted that we could drive, as reluctant as we felt about it, but Gail and Ray were silently texting and planning our flight. We finally gave in to all the kindness and graciously accepted the buddy passes, that now, I have no idea what we would have done without. I can't thank my family enough for all the kindness and giving they've done on our behalf....I was truly humbled. Someday I want to be able to do that for someone else.
Liams practically a frequent flyer, so he did great on the flight and dad picked us up from Phoenix Thursday night.
Friday was so fun! We wokeup and had breakfast with the girls and saw them off to school, it was Miss Shaynas birthday so we celebrated with her a little before she left. Then...Amelia came over! So did Dani and Stratton, but I grabbed that little furball as fast as I could. She was delicious, i loved smelling her full head of hair and touching her big lips while she slept. She's a little angel. We went swimming with Dani Stratton and Kristal and her kids which was the highlight of Liams trip. He LOVES Stratton. He loved just watching him run around or play with Tessa. If Stratton ever got too far away, Liam would start calling him back over, they're already best buddies!
After we went swimming we got ready for a little family BBQ! We made burgers, grilled zuchini, and ate and swam all night long! Grandpa decided to cannon ball us all and I retaliated by jumping in, in my drenched clothes and dunking him. Just like old time. Liam wasnt a fan of the splashing at first be he really got into it as the night went on.
Saturday morning I woke up and went running in the humid AZ heat. It was wonderful, I miss that heat. Dani and I went to Target just to shop around and while Chad and Breea went looking for cars. Liam got reaquanted with his Aunt Kenna over a lovely little tea party hosted by Stratton at the kitchen table. I Grandpa helped supply the beverages.
HUGE thanks to my sweet sisters who watched my baby while my parents and Chad and i went to the temple! I've been dreaming of going inside the Gilbert temple since I attended the ground breaking years ago! It was amazing. we were able to do sealings together and enjoy the special spirit that comes with the preforming of those ordinance for the dead. Dad took us around the temple like he owned the place (I think sometimes he forgets he's not giving an open house tour) but I'm so glad! He showed us so many special rooms and memories from the dedication with the prophet! I love that temple so much.
Saturday night we all got together at Paulas house for a BYOMeal family dinner for all the adults. It was so wonderful seeing everyone and i loved having Liams great grandparents love on him a little.
Sunday was the Blessing and we all got together for lunch at mom and dads house before church. There were a TON of people there, little Millie is very loved! Her blessing dress and headbands were perfect. And i got to use the "I live so far away and I never get to see her " excuse so I got to hold her all day long! Babyhogger and proud of it!
The blessing was wonderful, and it was so fun being in a family ward on fast Sunday. Sometimes we forget that deacons normally pass sacrament and we hardly ever get to hear the sweet testimonies of children so it was a real treat!
After our crazy day preparing for the luncheon, we pretty much just relaxed the rest of the day and played pictionary as a family that night. And for those of you who know my dad, please make a point to never ask him to draw directions to anywhere...his drawing abilities where in question the whole evening.
I found out earlier in the week that my sweet friend from high school, Caitie Graves was in town! I was so excited that we were able to catch up that night and I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures! We picked up right where we left off...kindred hearts, Caitie and I. So good to see that beautiful girl and visit with her and her awesome husband, Adam.
Monday morning was too quick. I went to Zumba with Dani and Kristal in the morning while Grandma watched Liam. (Thanks Grandma, Liams having withdrawls from all your snuggles). We ran into Elizabeth there and it was so fun seeing her and her daughter. That's one thing I LOVE about Queen Creek, I can never go anywhere without seeing someone I know!
We got home and Chad took Liam and Stratton for one more Cousin swim while i packed and got ready to leave. We met up with dad and Brennon at Chipolte and said our goodbyes...Liam cried the whole time. He's going to miss all the attention for sure.
He hopped on our flight and Liam just looked out the window the whole way home, I really think he's going to miss AZ.
Our trip was short but beautiful. I look forward to living closer and getting Stratton, Amelia and Liam together more often. Its so fun watching our family grow and all these new personalities and spirits bring new life to our family.
