Liams Birthday Bash

About two weeks ago, Chad and I were playing cards with the Thompsons, as we do every night of the week that we can, and we were talking about my birthday boys for the month of January (Chad and Liams birthdays are 5 days apart).

Chelsea: What are you guys thinking about doing for Liams birthday? Are you guys doing a party?
Kayla: Honestly, its probably just going to be us (the Thompsons and the Merrells) It's just in a week and I have nothing planned and with our trip to Utah coming up I just don't think I"ll have time to do anything big.
Chelsea: Yeah, that totally makes sense.

Chad(talking to Trent): Well, we'll also invite the Haymores, the Gibsons and Guy and his family and...

Kayla: Whoa Chad, in our tiny apartment?! and When?!

Chad: Well we'll want to have his friends from the ward and Chayce and Kapri from upstairs and we'll have to rent out the cultural hall and...

...

And that's when I realized I was planning a party.

Trent and Chelsea gave me the awesome idea to go with a cars theme and so I went to the dollar store and ran with it! As fast as I could! Thank heavens I was able to finish month end work when I did so I could spend a little time planning the decorations, the games and the food.

After three or four days of pinning and dollar tree runs and a Saturday morning of running around with our heads chopped off, we threw a pretty dang good party. We started about 20 minutes late but hey, better late than ugly.

The Thompsons, as per usual, were a HUGE help in making everything come together and I definitely could not have done it without them! Its nice to have friends that are family when there's no family around.
Here are all the kiddos lined up in their cars...they were so sweet to just sit there and let us laugh at them!
I swear Liam was having a good time, he just didn't want to ruin his "Bad Boy" rep in front of the ladies.
How cute is Porter though! Seriously! and his car fit him perfectly!
Here's the little hat i made Liam, i was going to as some ribbon and frilly stuff at the top, but then i remembered he's a boy.
The food was delicious, not featured below are the "Indie Cars" i made out of grapes and apple slices and the "Doc Pizza Lug Nuts" that you can see all over liams face in most of the pictures.

The kids and parents had so much fun with the cars and the cheap little horns. Each license plate was correlated with where the kids were from (or more accurately where thier parents were from)

Liam was eating up all the attention! Little Ham!

Dad helped Liam open most of his gifts, he was so tired but he loved each thing we pulled out!

How many engineers does it take to put together a cars toy? The answer is three.

Liam loves his Buddy Tanner, they are church friends and their super good at sharing snacks and running in the foyer.
Liams cakes smash was totally epic. He was hesitant at first but he really got into it once he discovered the sugar.

He was being a little too cautious for Uncle Trent so he got in thier and help Liam really tear apart the cake.. Thanks Trent.

Liam is such a little fireball and we loved having a whole afternoon of spoiling him without feeling bad about it. He is just such a great kid and brings so much joy to all those around him. Liam, we love you from your curly hair to your cake-covered toes!
