Matix is blessed

Chad did a beautiful job, he was guided by the spirit and it was clear that the words we were hearing were inspired and filled with hope and eternal perspective.

Some of my favorite parts of the blessing, I quickly jotted down right after, to be sure i never forget the sweet eternal gifts given to my boy and words of hope that we shared with the Lord. Chad prayed that Matix would be a strong leader for right, with courage to stand for the right with conviction, but also with the humility to follow faithfully, those who can direct him closer to the Savior and to his eternal goals. He blessed him with a missionaries heart, and the desire to share truth with those around him. Chad mentioned that our family has recognized a unique personality trait of Matix already, his extremely happy disposition in spite of adversity. With that gift, he was blessed with the opportunity to find himself in situations to make others happy and share the gospel with his associations. He will draw in many close friends with his magnetic optimism and share his testimony through his friendship. He was blessed with the ability to be sensitive to those who are struggling, hurting or unhappy. He was blessed with a love and respect for the women in his life. and he was blessed with an unbreakable relationship with the Savior. And lastly, he was blessed that he might witness miracles in these last days.

Matix, you were given a name with a lot of thought and a lot of prayer. We both loved the name Matix and when you were born, your dad and I looked at you with satisfaction, we knew Matix was the name for you and we were especially happy since its one of the only names we could agree upon. We're excited for generation down the line to be excited to use the name Matix in your honor. Your middle name bears a special importance that we pray you'll draw strength, confidence and a special perspective from though out your life. Daniel is your grandfathers first name, and your dads mothers new last name. When giving you this name, we thought about the men who bear it, Ray Daniel and Daniel Merrell, both your grandfathers who love you very very much. From Daniel Merrell we hope you'll remember to always forgive, we hope you'll remember that the Lord has placed you in this family for a sacred and divine purpose, the relationships with your brothers and sisters and with your parents are the most important opportunities you've been given. We pray you'll value them as precious gifts and treat them as irreplaceable, because they are. We hope you'll learn from his example, the good and the bad, as your father and I have. We know we'll make mistakes too and we hope you'll see them as we see Dans mistakes, turning points on our path to Christ. Daniel Merrell raised your father in faithfulness and taught him to be steadfast in his beliefs and required excellence from him, setting high standards aided in developing him into the serving, loving, dedicated father you have today. From Ray Daniel, we hope you always remember that in committing to loving everyone, as Enos, regardless of their perception of you, will serve you and those around you far greater than anything else. Ray entered our family later in the game and excepted each and every member exactly how they were, flaws and all. We hope you'll approach every child of God you meet with his same resilient Christ-like acceptance and patience. We hope you'll get to know these men, learn from them, and become the outstanding father and husband you're destined to be because of your learning from them.

I loved hearing my sweet husband speak with such sensitivity and humility. I love Chad with no end but the man isn't always great with words. Last night, he was. With the spirit presence and preparation through prayer and spiritual discussion, Chad spoke with eloquence and conviction that can only be heard when moved upon by the spirit. I'm endlessly grateful for the many functions of the priesthood and the men who worthily bear it and who held Matix to confirm the blessing upon him.

What an unforgettable night.
