My favorite guy

Chads birthday was wonderful, at least I thought so. We went to San Diego and spent the weekend with our best friends, in our favorite park, in one of our favorite places! It was the perfect platform for a a birthday. We played card with the Thompsons...perfect. We went to sea world all day in perfect weather and no crowds...perfect. And we watched the sun go down on the beach and stayed in a hotel in San Diego, waking up in a cushy bed with a free breakfast...perfect.

Side note: Our car was crushed in the night by  massive tree.

Other than that...perfect!

Let me start over. Sea world was Awesome! It was supposed to rain all day so we pulled up our parenting pants and prepared ourselves for umbrellas. puddles and wet cold children. It rained for the first 10 minutes we were at the park and then it was sunny, clear and empty for the rest of the day! There were no lines anywhere, good seats at every show and the kids stayed warm and dry. Truly perfection!

We made it to Mission Beach just in time to watch the sun set.Plus we got some cute pics of our chilly boys just before a crazy wave almost swept us all away!

We spontaneously decided to get a hotel for the night to allow us some good sleep for our long drive on Chads birthday. That way he could sleep well, wake up in a fluffy hotel bedroom and a delicious free breakfast. It was actually pretty perfect until the next morning, Trent came down and told Chad he needed to come out to the parking lot and look at his car. Chad, adorably thought we had decorated his car and was being led out to the parking lot for a pleasant surprise. It was a surprise but not so pleasant. a massive tree had been uprooted by the wind the in the night because of the moisture from the day before and had fallen directly onto Chads car. When they told me I could hardly believe it but Chad had a smile on his face so no mater the nature of the statement, joke or no joke, i knew everything would be fine.

Which leads me to why I love my husband so much. Chad is so full of hope and optimism all the time. When I'm at my lowest low, and when I'm my worst self, he finds the good, he reminds me of the blessings and he illuminated the handprints of the Lord in our lives. I feel so blessed to have his example to learn from and i feel like he's truly rubbed off on me. This man makes me better and I love that we're seeing the sunshine together.

We laughed at the damaged car and went back in to finish our breakfast.

Poor Thompsons. How did they get stuck with us? They drew the short stick in heaven but we're sure glad they did. They stuck with us at the hotel (Since we had to stick around for an additional 2-3 hours) and they made it a party. We're so grateful it was quickly resolved and even drivable so that we could get home in time without too much delay. Seriously, such a blessing and a fun story to tell. I guess that's what misfortune becomes when you have good friends and a happy husband.

On our way out of town we hit a gem of a museum, probably one of my favorite LDS museums ever, the Mormon battalion museum in Old Town San Diego. 1st of all, Old town San Diego is adorable and rich in culture and tradition, I wish we had another day there to explore and take in all the Mexican food. The Museum was beautiful and our Sister Missionary who gave us the tour was adorable and patient....very patient. The boys were rambunctious but on any other day, the rooms were so interactive, we played the spoons, dressed as a soldier and held their guns, talked to moving pictures and felt a stampede of buffalo through our campsite. They took our picture with this awesome old fashioned camera, and the boys got to pan for goal, see how bricks were made and wash clothes like the pioneers did. It was so fun and we all really loved it! Definitely going back asap.

All in all, Chads birthday weekend was a wild success! We love spending time with friends and with our boys and there was lots of that.

Chads just my favorite. A highlight for me was watching him be completely happy driving 6 hours with me and our boys laughing and singing all the way home on his special day. Anythings a joy with Chad. Happy Birthday sweetie!

  1. So this post was almost perfect besides two things. 1. We definitely didn't draw the short stick in heaven. Without you guys, our life would be terribly boring and we definitely would not have been on as many fun vacations (the cruise was your idea... remember?) 2. You forgot To mention that for chads birthday lunch we ate at Boston Market!!?! What! The food was so goood! How could you leave that you 😉😂😂
